Error codes and warning lights
Inverter flashing a code you don't recognise, or showing no generation at all? Send us the details and an independent technician can work out what's behind it.

The inverter is central to a solar PV system, so a fault can quickly become noticeable through lost generation, warning lights, error messages or repeated shutdowns. An inverter problem does not automatically mean the whole solar installation needs replacing.
Independent technicians investigate inverter-related faults across Wiltshire and assess the wider system where necessary to make sure the apparent inverter problem is not being caused elsewhere. Once the cause is clearer, they can explain whether repair, further investigation or replacement is the practical route.

Different inverter makes and system ages can present faults differently. Error information is useful, but it should be considered alongside what the solar system is actually doing.
Technicians investigate reported inverter error messages and use them as part of the wider diagnosis rather than assuming the displayed code tells the whole story.
An inverter that remains off may be affected by the inverter itself or another system condition. The technician works through the relevant checks.
Intermittent operation can be frustrating and may require investigation of both the inverter and connected parts of the installation.
If the inverter or monitoring indicates no production, a technician investigates whether the issue is generation-related, equipment-related or a monitoring problem.
For ageing equipment, the technician considers the nature of the failure and the practicality of repair before discussing replacement.
The final cost depends on the inverter, the nature of the fault, system compatibility and whether repair or replacement is appropriate.

Write it down exactly as shown. If the display is easy to see, a photo works too.
Usually printed on a label on the inverter. Helpful, but not essential.
Off completely, cycling on and off, or running but showing little or no generation.
A power cut, building work or new electrical equipment around the time the fault appeared.
Make a note of any inverter error message and tell us what has changed.
Free — no obligations

The technician starts with error messages, warning lights, monitoring information and any changes you have noticed.
The relevant inverter and solar system components are assessed to narrow down the cause.
The technician explains what the investigation indicates and what action is appropriate.
Where a repair is practical, the technician pursues that route. Where it is not, they explain why replacement may be more sensible.
